Good machine, but some funky "features"

So I just gave up on my old 30 year old Maytag that was tried and true for the biggest part of my life. Since the government invaded our laundry rooms and caused the nightmare that is wash day now, I was happy to find an "old school" washer similar to my old Maytag. Overall, I am satisfied with how it operates and washes clothes. I love the option to use a full tub of water and the machine gets clothes nice and clean. You know, like what it is supposed to do! That said, there are some cons: 1. The lid must be closed for the machine to operate. No more rinsing off the detergent bottle lid in the stream of water filling the tub. If you leave the lid open too long, the machine resets and drains whatever water is in the tub. I don't appreciate this "feature". 2. I hate how it fills with water. The water cycles on and off, on and off until it fills. This is plain out stupid. Just fill the tub. The fill valve cycles on and off and it rattles my pipes to the point where I am actually considering returning the machine. Maytag, you need to reconsider this " feature" and just let the water run until the tub is filled. 3. Hot water isn't hot. Its tempered....meaning the machine mixes hot and cold water and decides for you how hot the water should be. I dislike this a lot about this machine. There are certain items that you want scalding hot water to clean and sanitize. The only way around this is to hook up hot lines to both the hot and cold fill valves, but that will probably void your warranty. 4. There is no way to just spin. The only option is "rinse and spin". I sometimes hand wash certain things like a child stuffed toy for example. I simply want to spin this dry, not rinse it. I have to let the machine do the rinse, then allow it to drain, then before the spin cycle starts you have to drop in the item before that dang lid locks. 5. The washing machine doesn't match the "matching dryer"....its about 2 inches taller than the "matching" dryer. The installer kind of made it line up by lowering the feet on the washer and raise the feet of the dryer so they are now kind of level with one another. All this said, the machine works well, it fills with water is you use the deep fill options and it washes your clothes well. It doesn't seem to be too hard on my clothing. Nothing has been damaged with the agitator. Its quiet, except for the fill valve cycles. Overall, I'd rate it good, but its can't hold a candle to my 30 year old Maytag. But in this new world, it's the closest thing you will find to an old school machine.
